J. J. Paul, III, is a founding member, former regent (1996-2004), and ninth dean (2003-2004) of the National College for DUI Defense (NCDD) The tenth lawyer in the nation honored as a Fellow of the NCDD, he was the first of only two lawyers in Indiana to be Board Certified in DUI Defense Law by the college. Mr. Paul frequently speaks at Indiana seminars in DUI/OVWI defense, criminal defense, and appellate advocacy, and has lectured on DUI defense strategies in 12 states, internationally, and at NCDD summer sessions conducted at the Harvard Law School.

Mr. Paul has served as Chairman of the Board Certification Committee of the NCDD, and currently serves on this committee. He has been co-chairman of the DUI Advocacy Committee of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), and is on the faculty for the joint NACDL/NCDD annual DUI Defense seminar in Las Vegas.

Mr. Paul was admitted to practice law in Indiana in 1976, and admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in 1980. He is also admitted to practice before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago, and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Indiana. He has been admitted pro hac vice for cases in Colorado, Ohio, and Illinois. His practice area is limited to criminal defense law, covering trial and appellate levels, and he carries an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Paul has served as chairman and speaker for numerous Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum (ICLEF) seminars dating back to 1983 in DUI (OVWI) Defense Law, criminal defense, and appellate advocacy, and has served as a member of the faculty for ICLEF’s Trial Advocacy program conducted at the Indiana University School of Law, Indianapolis.
